I just bought an LLC with PRIME... now what?

This article outlines the next steps and expectations for the delivery and maintenance of your LLC.

Updated this week

Congratulations on your new LLC! This is such an exciting time for your business. If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed by the next steps, don’t worry—we’re here to help you and answer your questions every step of the way.

When will I receive my LLC documents?

As soon as your LLC was paid for, all of the relevant information was sent to PRIME's fulfillment team. This group of specialists is working on getting your LLC filed with the state. The timeline for delivery of your LLC depends on your state's approval.

You can find the expected timeline for your specific state here.

Once your LLC is approved and we've received all of your documents, we'll deliver them straight to the inbox associated with the email address you provided to us and send you a text to notify you. This email will come from [email protected]. It's a good idea to add this email address to your contact list to ensure our emails aren't accidentally directed to your spam folder.

What should I do with my LLC documents?

As soon as you receive your documents, save them to your computer so you can always access a digital copy offline. Then, print them out and sign your Operating Agreement. Now your documents are officially complete—can store them somewhere safe.

Will I need to renew my LLC?

Most states do require regular renewal of your LLC. Your renewal date is typically one year from your date of formation, but some states have unique timelines.

You can find specific renewal deadlines by state here.

Don't worry—PRIME will contact you with plenty of notice regarding your renewal. To learn more about the renewal process with PRIME, click here.

What else do I need to do for my business?

Some states have some additional filing requirements to keep your LLC in good standing. These requirements should be included in the collection of documents for your LLC. To see which states have additional filing requirements and to download copies of what they are, visit this article and navigate to the "additional filing requirements" section.

Depending on your industry, you may have additional requirements for doing business in your state. Check your Secretary of State's website to see if there are any certifications, licenses, or permits required for your LLC.

You can find the website for your Secretary of State here.

With your Articles from the state, your EIN from the federal government, and any additional requirements for your state or industry secured, your business is good to go!
